We become cameleons

We take an early morning walk through the sand and take in the sights of the Wadi-can't imagine why they filmed the Martian here!

Then it is off for a camel ride, Lawrence style. These sturdy ships of the desert are probably not the most comfortable means of transport I have encountered; despite shifting positions there are always at least 2 to 3 body parts experiencing extreme pain. Mounting and dismounting is not a whole lot of fun either.

I usually find camels quite ugly, however I would not hesitate to ask this one out

It is then back into the bus for a drive to Petra.
Immediately upon arrival we begin our first walking tour of Petera and talk about the Nabatheans who spent a lot of time chiselling out mountainsides.

The temperature here is high, the touts are relentless and the crowds of tourists are excessive but we arrive back at our hotel safely but dehydrated.
